My journey to have an app for FluentCommunity and my site

Hey all, i just want to share with you my journey regarding the app i am waiting confirmation from Apple & Google.

I just purchased a PWA plugin called Progressify. I ve used several pluguins for that but they needed further customization.

With progressify the PWA allowed to send custom notifications, not directly from Fluent community but when i had a Live or a Course i am sending custom notification to all my members.

I purchased with an extra 45$ the files for my app and now i uploaded those files waiting for confirmation from Apple and Google.

I dont know if that will work, but it was great to have that opportunity.

Cant wait to see your thoughts on that.

Thanks

Sam Jansen

I must say there PWA demo looks good. But Push notification from Fluent Community is a must. But for PWA this looks good. Is there add to home screen/ install app button working inside the community? Or can you add some JS for this?

Sam JansenΒ I ve sent them couple of messages to test the support and also to ask about custom push notifications. They will put them on roadmap but they told me that its hard to make it soon.

Sam JansenΒ My PWA App has push notifications working. Still early alpha but it's all working relatively well. Add to home screen, enable notifications, and then control over your notifications after the fact.

Ross FCAΒ Waiting for your progress Ross, my trust is in you for the events and push notifications!

Ross FCA

Ioannis GlossopoulosΒ Would you want a push notifications feature totally separate from PWA?

Ross FCAΒ We will discuss it personally, yeah that would be nice. Maybe a custom solution or a seperate pluguin.

Sam Jansen

Ross FCAΒ I was looking to integrate onesignal for push notifications some time ago. I stop working on it was busy with other project. But one signal could be better than locally host notifications. There free plan is enough for most people.

Ross FCA

Sam JansenΒ Interesting - what would the difference be? Local is free obviously too and without limitations.

Sam Jansen

Ross FCAΒ This is what chatgpt said:

A self-hosted WordPress push plugin gives you full control over data and privacy, but you must handle delivery, browser compatibility, and scalability yourself.

In short:

πŸ”’ Self-hosted = more control, no third-party dependency, but harder to maintain.

☁️ OneSignal = easier setup, reliable delivery, segmentation, and analytics.

Use self-hosted if you want privacy and independence.

Use OneSignal if you want convenience, automation, and large-scale reliability.

There free plan has unlimited mobile pushes

Can you share link for your Community ?

Dragan STAMENKOVICΒ Community is hidden, you need to purchase a membership, the site is kidnest.gr

I tried them, so far no luck... still waiting to get any support and I paid for the App to be published too.

Daniel ProctorΒ Ξ™ had problems with Apple, they want me to rip off all the pay buttons from the site.

Daniel Proctor

Ioannis GlossopoulosΒ yeah that makes sense because then you have to pay a commission to Apply for each sale. How long did it take for them to give you the files to upload to Apple store and android?

Daniel ProctorΒ same day

Daniel Proctor

Ioannis GlossopoulosΒ interesting I havent had a message since even ordering it.

I told them to make the integration the same day I found fluent community. Many other users asked too, its obvious in comments of the product. Even better messages already made integration with progressify but progressify itself still dont have integration with fluent community.

Rosvaldas NudasΒ they will have one in the next update
