Message email notifications (hourly) not working

So I just noticed now that the email notifications don’t work, this is a big problem maybe even a reason not to use the product if it can’t be fixed.. there will be almost no engagement if users don’t get notified. Has anyone troubleshooter the problem? Is there an admin here that can help me? I have people signing up daily and none are getting the emails

Daniel Proctor did you configure server-side cronjobs as it is described in the article below?

https://fluentcrm.com/docs/fluentcrm-cron-job-basics-and-checklist/

What is in your cronjob queue awaiting? Try crontrol if needed.

Do you see any failed logs in you fSMTP plugin?

Did you raise any support ticket?

Mat ‎ I hadnt set this up so that could be the issue. Thanks for that! Also one other thing have you noticed that you have to refresh the dashboard to get notifications to appear? Is there also a bug / cron for that?

Mat ‎

Daniel Proctor I am not sure what dasboard are you referring to. But if you are talking about the top notification icon (ring bell icon) and it doesnt display a red bubble notification (showing new messages) than it might be an issue with a cache plugin (even here notifications dont show immiediatelly so...). Its hard to tell...

Raise a support ticket with the Ninjas Team if needed or post you questions here so maybe someone can help you out.

Feel free to ask.

After fixing the CRON issue the emails are still not being triggered for messages.. Trying to find a solution still

Daniel Proctor do you use fSMTP plugin and external ESP for sending emails?

Note: using web hosting build-in mail function shouldnt be goto option here but I am pretty sure you know that.

Do you see failed status in your email logs in the fSMTP plugin or there are no records?

Maybe you should open a support ticket so Ninjas can directly help you out.

Daniel Proctor

I use only SMTP with Google Workspace, i connected using API and i dont see any failed attempts there in the logs. Yeah I opened a ticket just now, fingers crossed! Im scratching my head on this one.

Daniel Proctor I dont think Google WorkSpace gmail smtp is good for transactional and/or marketing emails - check limits etc - when your users will report a SPAM then you are cooked and therefore you should outsource it to AWS SES or any other similar provider.

Gmail is not meant to be used in this way. They have somewhat arbitrary restrictions and limits on what can be sent, and how many emails can be sent. If you run into these restrictions, they'll gladly cut you off without warning.

Instead of Gmail, just sign up for an AWS Simple Email Service account. It is dead-simple to integrate this with fSMTP, it's very cost-effective.
