Introducing Pages for Your Spaces - FluentCommunity 2.10

At WordCamp Europe in Kraków, I sat down with Remkus de Vries, and he asked for pages inside spaces and explained exactly why he needed them. That conversation stuck with me, so this one is dedicated to him.

Pages for Spaces

Every space has a Pages tab now.

  • Written in the normal block editor, so it can be anything: welcome guide, rules, resource list, FAQ, course outline
  • Order the pages however you want
  • Comments on or off, per page
  • Multiple page templates

Your community can show up on LLMs now

Until now, when ChatGPT or Claude visited your community, they got a blank page. The portal renders in the browser, so crawlers saw nothing.

Now the portal serves real HTML to anything that isn't a browser. Posts, spaces and courses show their actual content. So search engines can index your threads, AI tools can cite your answers as LLMs love real conversations and communities.

Privacy: it only ever renders what a logged-out visitor is already allowed to see. Private and secret spaces are not rendered at all. Nothing changes there.

Also in this release

  • Push notifications clear the matching badge when you open them, and in-app toasts no longer double up with push
  • Settings screens are proper routes now, so the back button works
  • Faster Pages Manager and a faster popular times report
  • Better dark mode, and the space header menu and toasts fixed up for phones
  • New action hooks for lesson and section events, if you build on top of this
  • Fixes: iOS lesson scrolling, video uploads showing as links, daily digest not going out same day, quiz submission with no enabled questions, stale space cache, PHP 8.1 notices, and more strings opened up to translators

BRUNO DE SOUZA

With this shift to Google indexing, do Google Analytics and Tag Manager work better?

Shahjahan Jewel

BRUNO DE SOUZA Google analytics already works. and yes, Google indexing will work better.

Teddy Skokos

Great feature

Bryan William

Boom 💥 💥 💥 another amazing feature just dropped....

Everard Brockett

Wow this is a Major release!!!!!

Ross FCA

Amazing, Pages has been requested many many times on here. Any chance these could eventually live outside of a Space? That would definitely shift things towards an overall Portal experience where spaces/discussions are just one aspect of a wider platform. I'd see a Page as standalone as a Space or a Course.

Shahjahan Jewel

Ross FCA yes, we will make it available for global scope as well.

Itachi Sensei

Shahjahan Jewel YEs, please!!!

Nicolai

Ross FCA How would that be different from a regular Wordpress Page? They live outside the space.

Ross FCA

Nicolai regular wordpress pages live outside the whole of fluent community. This would be inside the community but outside a space.

Jason Soper

great feature indeed! Just updated to the latest version, but any wordpress page that i had previously created and wrapped in the "Fluent Community Frame" page template is no longer wrapped in the frame correctly. The CSS is all messed up. Would this have been caused by this new pages feature?

I am assuming that this new pages feature will negate the need for using wordpress pages for spaces, but I have also been using the Fluent Community frame to wrap the fluent cart pages as well.

Shahjahan Jewel

Jason Soper we will take a look into it.

Jason Soper

Shahjahan Jewel thanks!!

Sharon C

Shahjahan Jewel I'm using Fluent Community Frame page templates as well--I'm glad I read this before I updated; it would have messed up several of my WordPress pages that I am using within spaces now.

Shahjahan Jewel

Sharon C We are going to release a patch in a few minutes.

Sharon C

Shahjahan Jewel thank you!

Raiyan Marzan

Jason Soper Sharon C We have just released v2.10.01

Jason Soper

Raiyan Marzan awesome! Everything is back to normal. Thanks for the quick update!

Robert Lee

I needed this! Well done.

Alexis Iroha

Awesome update...please can a custom workbook be created using html/css in a course section... because I have a client that wants an inbuilt workbook that people can fill in the community after a particular course Shahjahan Jewel

Alexis Iroha Fluent Forms works for this.

Remkus de Vries

Love it when I propose a feature and it's not only being considered, but actually built. I'll be adding all the pages to my Within WordPress Guild now! Thank you, Jewel!

Lee Busch

re: "Normal Block Editor", does this mean we can use ANY block we have installed in the main Wordpress, like Pro blocks from block builder plugins? Or only vanilla wordpress blocks?

Shahjahan Jewel

Lee Busch only WordPress core blocks

David Churchill

Shahjahan Jewel what, I just realised my own SpacePages 😂

Maybe it's time you update the roadmap (please) so we know what's likely to be shipping in the future? 🙏

AS W

David Churchill i believe your solution wasn’t creating pages within fluent, but on WordPress. Or maybe i misunderstood what you did. I agree that they should make a roadmap but we’ve been all asking forever and they aren’t doing it. I believe they never will..

Sandy Edwards

This is brilliant! I will be using this starting today. Is there any way that when opening a document on mobile inside the community there can be a back to community button? As it stands today (unless I’m doing something wrong) when opening a document on mobile inside— you have to refresh the app to go back.

kyler boudreau

This is HUGE.

Sella Yoffe

So cool 👏

AS W

now this is by far the most exciting update I’ve yet witnessed!!!! Wow!!! PAGES namely is exactly what I was longing for. I do have one request though: could the space open to a « Main » page instead of the conversations (posts)?

The browser and AI detection will be a game changer as well. Amazing!
