Introducing FluentCommunity - 1.5.0 (Major Update) 🎉
Just released the most exciting update of FluentCommunity. In this version, we have shipped the most exciting feature and that's Theme Compatibility! Now you can create pages with your favorite page builders or Gutenberg and show those within the community frame. It's well-tested by the community beta testers.
So far, we could test and make it work with the following themes/page builders
- Full Gutenberg Support with all the popular themes
- Elementor ✅
- Bricks ✅
- Beaver Builder ✅
- Oxygen/Breakdance ✅
- Divi ✅
- + any Page builders that supports custom page templates.
This feature will bring lots of values. Over time, we will improve it.
We also added some improvements and bug fixes. Please read the full changelog here: https://fluentcommunity.co/blog/fluentcommunity-1-5-0/
Cool, let me take it for a spin!
Amazing 😍
Just installed it. Looking forward to getting my Roadmaps and Support inside of the community framework.
Great news! Thanks. 👍
I'll test it with Betheme.
Thanks for this update! Shahjahan Jewel
Good news: My redirect plugin is no longer useful because it's natively integrated :) That's a good thing.
Regarding the webhook list display bug (stuck at 20), it's still present, even though you said it would be fixed in this version. Is this perhaps an oversight?
Dragan STAMENKOVIC Sorry, the team was super busy with this big release. I will make sure it's fixed and released in the next version.
Ok no problem 👍
Shahjahan Jewel I think there's a bug in the redirection. In the meantime, I'm keeping my redirection plugin that fixes this use case. In the case of a site closed to the public, the redirection sends to the login page (its homepage) instead of the redirection link. The redirection should work in all cases, even if we have a closed space.
Awesome news! 🥳
I really hope to be able to edit the footer as well.... )
Artur Abakarov you can do that in Settings.
Found this CSS bug after update Shahjahan Jewel
Cuong Thach Most probably it's for the caching. We are using the same version in this portal.
Shahjahan Jewel you are correct, minify and combine css from my cache plugin lead to the missing style.
By the way, I noticed some CSS styling issues in FluentCommunity page template due to missing style dependencies. While I've implemented a temporary fix on my end, it would be beneficial if this could be addressed in the next update to ensure better compatibility and user experience.
Below screenshot demonstrates an example of incorrect font-weight rendering.
Cuong Thach Thanks. Will definately improve it.
Thanks Shahjahan Jewel I use Spectra, I will test and update you. Amazing!
Awesome ! Works like a charm with Kadence !
I can't not drop this here - so excited about this update!!!
Boom Bada Boom... they have finally dropped the atomic bomb. I'm so excited
Excellent, now I have full compatibility with my favorite page builder --> Bricks. Thanks a lot guys.
This! Is! Awesome!
This update is a game-changer, thanks for it! :)
My guess it also works with Pro Theme builder (w cornerstone) from Themeco.
Question: Does this do anything for adding more Gutenberg blocks to the course builder screens? (like pro blocks we've paid a 3rd party for?)
Interesting. I am already using Kadence with it. Plain Kadence. Has worked fine for the duration.
Shahjahan Jewel Currently it is not possible to use Theme Compatibility for Blog posts on Blocksy Theme like your post https://community.wpmanageninja.com/contribution-stats-wp-6-8/ is there a way to do this?
Hoang Hxn will share a code snippet tomorrow.
Shahjahan Jewel thank you!!! Please create a whole new post so it's easy to find this for us Blocksy users.
Shahjahan Jewel Great, I'm looking forward to this 🙏
Shahjahan Jewel this is possible with Woo Pages (like cart, order page, shop page) too?
I'm confused. How do I activate this? I clicked on the update but I'm not sure what to do next?
Don Parkhurst jr Make a new page in Elementor or whatever you use and choose the new Fluent Community page template. Whatever page you make will have the FC frame around it.
Hac Media Where do I find the fluent community page templetes?
Don Parkhurst jr if you're using elementor then you have to click on the gear at the very top center of the page and then on the bottom left of the page is an option to choose which page template you're going to use it really depends on which theme you're using put regardless the main thing to understand is that you're not editing anything inside of fluent community it's happening in your normal page builder
Is there any translation to Spanish?
Opinion: The 'Theme Compatibility' feature is a nice option for showing any possible content, including those with shortcodes, 'inside' FluentCommunity (I put inside in quotes because it technically isn't inside FluentCommunity).
However, there are some negatives. Please don't take these comments as bashing this feature. I like it and can see where it would be beneficial for some. These are just my thoughts after using it for a bit (beta included) and having built my own custom theme that allows pages to appear as if they are inside FC.
- The notification icon shows up now which is good but it links to a dedicated notification page instead of the popup modal like on real FC pages.
- On a similar note, are there plans to make the search icon appear on these pages as well? If so, would the search results be limited to FC content or would it have the ability to search regular WordPress pages also?
- Some of the CSS isn't quite spot-on with real FC pages. I noticed it most with the sidebar spacing.
- I think it would look better if the page title was displayed like it is on FC pages instead of just part of the big content box. This would make the pages look more like they are part of FC.
None of these are dealbreakers and I'm sure this feature will be enhanced over time.
Given all that, as some others have said, in my opinion, the better way to do this would be to create a third space type of 'page' or similar so the pages are part of the SPA. I know that getting shortcodes to work using this method is problematic due to loading js/css so if that is ultimately not possible, maybe create a seamless way to create/manage pages inside FC and load them using iframes (I'm not a fan of iframes generally but maybe that is the best option here). Anyway, just some thoughts....
I also just wanted to say that FC is a great product and it is exciting seeing changes and new features. Great job!!!
Thomas Oates really good points. On point 3, I have fully customised my Community with custom fonts and some custom spacing and font size. I have been able, with CSS snippets, to make it look identical within normal fluent community pages and with the theme compatible pages. So with tweaking, it is doable.
Is it possible when using blog to have theme also? I cant make it work.
Kimsoft Media AB I will publish a simple code snippet to enable that.
Shahjahan Jewel thanks!
there's a bug with closed fluent communities. Pages inside the template are visible with all the sidebar, it should be avoided Shahjahan Jewel
Tindaro Battaglia what do you mean exactly? I have a closed community and all is still locked.
Paul Hopkins try to put a page inside the fc template, then visit the page in incognito.
You will see the sidebar with all the links of the sidebar
Tindaro Battaglia yes, but you can’t access them without logging in and you can lock the created page with fc template as well?
Tindaro Battaglia This feature isn't setting permissions on page. It is simply adding the FC sidebar and header to whichever page you select to have the FC template. You'll need some other security plugin to assign permissions to page.
Thomas Oates maybe I’m not getting something here and you could help me understand. I run a closed community with fluent community. I have to use fluentCRM (or something like it) to manage membership access in conjunction with woocommerce (or an alternative). That means I can use the ‘conditional section’ from fluentCRM to hide content on a page that is a Gutenberg block page. So that works for this feature of theme compatibility as I can hide or show as much of the page that I want to my users based on their tags (set by fluentCRM on purchase)? Isn’t there also a free plugin called ‘conditional content blocks’ that does the same? But it is already in fluentCRM and I personally monetise through that. Does this not solve what you are saying or have I missed something?
Paul Hopkins Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with using that feature in FluentCRM so I can't speak to that. However, based on your description, it sounds like that functionality lets you set permissions on part of the content of a page but not on the entire page itself. Is that correct? If so, I believe you'd need a plugin that allows setting security for the entire page in order to restrict access completely.
Thomas Oates Well thanks for helping/making me think it through! It DOES work to restrict access to FC, because the conditional block can hold within it the FC block. So as an example I have given a screenshot of a test page. With the 'Community Access' tag ticked, you get the Fluent Community Custom Page showing if you have that access. If you don't have that access, all you see is a blank page. So you could, of course, add another 'Conditional Section' that says 'you need to subscribe to see this content'.
Compatible with Voxel theme?
Shaleed Tonge Voxel uses Elementor, so seems likely.
Doesnt work with greenshift which works on top of gutenberg. https://greenshiftwp.com/
Rosvaldas Nudas I was considering using GS blocks. What doesn’t work?
Do you have a documentation for this new theme compatibility feature?
Johannes Maier yes. I'm also confused. Like...how do I use this?
Kaneisha Grayson same here.
Johannes Maier Create a page inside WordPress admin, choose one of the FluentCommunity page templates, and open the page. If desired, you can then add the page to one of the FluentCommunity menus using the menu settings inside FluentCommunity admin section.
What's the difference between the themes "Fluent Community Frame" and "Fluent Community Full Width Frame"?
Assaf Manor Fluent Community Frame will have padding on both side with page title. Fluent Community Full Width Frame will not have any padding around it.
Shahjahan Jewel Thanks for the clarification. You might wanna think about adding this distinction to the docs.
Can someone explain to me like I'm a child how to use this? I would like to show regular page content in a space feed... I use Kadence.
Nadia Orfali This feature doesn't do that. This feature allows you to load a regular WordPress page so it has the FC sidebar and header.
Thomas Oates ok.. can you explain how to do that? I don't have the "editor" option under appearance.
Nadia Orfali Create a page inside WordPress admin, choose one of the FluentCommunity page templates, and open the page. If desired, you can then add the page to one of the FluentCommunity menus using the menu settings inside FluentCommunity admin section.
Thank you Shahjahan Jewel ! Works like a charme with Avada 👍
Two questions:
- how can I integrate these pages now in the menu / group structure of the sidebar?
- why are these pages visible for non logged in users although I have a closed community?
Minor oddity. The base plugin update appeared first and updated without issue. A while later when the Pro plugin appeared for update, it failed. Turns out that's because my license was no longer in the plugin. The download worked when I replaced the license. Not sure why it disappeared.
Youhouuuu
Excuse my non-knowledge, but how do I use the Theme Compatibility feature with Elementor? Can I use it to add shortcodes to the course lessons?
Chris de Feijter go inside the elementor page, page settings and under template do not choose elementor Canva but fluentcommunity
Tindaro Battaglia Manu thanks!
Half page is white and sidebar bottom disappeared on pages.
I’ve tried several times to update my Fluent Community, but it keeps failing. Is there a step-by-step guide I can follow to complete the update successfully? I’d really appreciate your help.
Tomiwa Orunnipin What error are you getting?
Shahjahan Jewel I have attached the screenshot of the error message with this reply.
Tomiwa Orunnipin Looks like the License key got invalid or deleted or something else. Would you please download from wpmanageninja account and install manually.
Shahjahan Jewel I have this error everytime on some websites. And I am sure I have the license key activated ... I have to upload the new plugin version then.
On some other websites it goes smooth. All on the same server (virtual server, administrated by me) ...
Shahjahan Jewel Okay, I will try that and revert. Thanks
Problem with styling:
If I add a page to the upper menu and I click on it - you don't see a highlight on the text of it as you would on regular tabs inside the ecosystem of fluent community. Shahjahan Jewel
Shahjahan Jewel once again Real Cookie Banner breaks everything, when i update FluentCommunity (everything goes blank).... is there any document i can send the real cookie banner team to, so that they know what you have changed and what they have to change on their side?
Manuel Müller Not sure how they handled things. Maybe you can just ask them about why it's breaking everything.
Hi everyone, how can I add the Wordpress pages created with this new feature in a Group of Spaces ? I can only see the option 'space' or 'course'. Thanks in advance !
Houefa Gbaguidi I don’t think you can. What about putting it in a Course space or in the second menu nav bar at the top that I think is at Menu > Links?
Kaneisha Grayson thanks for the clarification, will see how to manage it otherwise
Shahjahan Jewel using Breakdance....how can i style the template (padding, line-hight, etc.)?
I was playing around with the new theme functionality, but is there a way to add the page title the same way as the other spaces and links? Shahjahan Jewel ?
Shahjahan Jewel I just realized the Theme Compatibility feature I was hoping for works quite different than I thought. I understand that it allows me to put my pages into a Fluent Community template frame, however, I was thinking / hoping that it would work the other way round like Buddypress, which can be integrated into exisiting websites and thus the menus, footer etc. all look similar, regardless where you are on the website... I have more than 300 pages on my website and making all of them use the FC frame really makes no sense. Is there a plan to allow for the integration of FC like Buddypress through Shortcodes or other ways so that I can continue to use my existing setup and just replace the Buddypress part with Fluent Community?
Philip Strothmann Maybe we will release a super simple, high-perfromance theme to achieve that goal in the future.
Shahjahan Jewel Ok, but I deduct from your answer, that you don't plan on allowing the integration of FC into an existing theme / setup? Because a super simple theme is not what I would need, I would need FC to work within my environment / theme / layout. Maybe I'm wrong, but I suspect that a lot of BP communities are A part of existing setups where the community section is part of the experience but not everything and I was really hoping to replace BP with FC for that part - but that won't work if FC cannot be integrated into existing setups.
Philip Strothmann This is the first step of the theme compatibility feature. Over time, we will improve it, and we will definitely try to integrate your header and footer some day. It's bit complicated than it's seems as we are giving super performance and when all the themes and plugins load their assets it gets wild sometimes. That's why we had to choose this path first.
Shahjahan Jewel I guess my biggest issue is the top navigation which provides access to a lot of content to my users. I use Kleo as a theme and that provides me with the ability to split my top menu into two menus. One I have replaced with UberMenu and offers access to a lot of different sections and content - the other offers the notifications coming from Buddypress etc. handled through the theme. Now, if I could basically assign a custom menu in FC and replace your center menu section with mine, that would already help a lot. Just as an idea :)
DIVI 4 is only half compatible.
If I have integrated the subpage with one of the two templates (tried both) and want to edit it later via the DIVI Builder, then the timeout occurs.
So I always have to go to ‘Edit’ the page without preview in the backend and first remove the template ‘Frame’ again. Then I can - normally - edit in preview mode.
Then I go back to Edit page and have to put the template back in.
This is very annoying.
I have the workaround, but it takes a lot of time. Shahjahan Jewel - What do you need from me to solve this problem? Thank you!
Oh this is COOL. Question: I don't use page builders. I just build out my own template files. How can I integrate with the community?
Have you tried it? Or do you ask in advance?
What is your environment/theme? All depends on the FC-template you must use!
Nicole Y. Männl - NY Digital as noted I don't use page builders and obviously I'm WordPress. I build themes from scratch using Underscores from Automattic...so my question is how can I integrate with this new feature? How do you customize a page template file like page.php to hook in?
kyler boudreau First you tell us you use template files, now you are saying you build themes from scratch. For me it is not the same. That's why I was asking.
I am now out of this discussion.
Nicole Y. Männl - NY Digital sorry, I'm not being clear. In WordPress a PHP file for a page or post is a template file. If you create a page in WordPress called "news" the template is page-news.php. I'm sure you know this. You can read about the WordPress template hierarchy. So my question is simply, in a WordPress environment that's not using a page builder, how can I integrate into the Fluent Community? How can I take a template file for a page and make that work? I looked for some type of Fluent Community integration while editing a page, but don't see anything. Thanks!
- I was out of discussion (ok, now almost!)
- I gave you kindly the solution:
"All depends on the FC-template you must use!" This must be a page. - I am really out now. 👈
😅
Nicole Y. Männl - NY Digital 😂 my new goal is to not use the feature, but see how long I can keep you engaged. Hahaha. Thanks for your input!
Hello everyone,
Since updating to version 1.0.5, I’ve run into an issue with dark mode behavior:
- When I enable dark mode and then navigate to any FluentCommunity page (such as a template page), dark mode automatically gets disabled.
- Additionally, the dark mode toggle completely disappears from the UI on those pages.
Has anyone else encountered this? Any suggestions on how to fix or work around this would be greatly appreciated.
Hey dear devs, using Healing Vibes theme and in the custom page the icons and the css is getting crazy (as you see the icons are bugged only in that custom page) Could you please help? It is doing it just with my theme and as i bought the theme i could provide in pm link to download and check or a temp admin login? Please help :)
Hi Shahjahan Jewel - will there be an update to https://github.com/WPManageNinja/fluent-community-docs with this release?
