Introducing Advanced Quiz Builder and Custom Space Menu
Another big one. We just shipped 2.11 today and we upgraded the whole quiz module. More on that later.
Space Menu Manager
Until now the tabs at the top of a space came in a fixed order. You could add a few extra links and that was it. Now you own that menu. Open any space, go to Settings, there's a new Menu tab.
You can drag tabs into any order, rename them, add an emoji or SVG icon, and hide the ones you don't use. You can add your own tabs too, linking to any URL or to one of your space pages. And you can decide who sees each link: everyone, logged-in members, logged-out visitors, or members of specific spaces and courses.
Advanced Quiz Builder
This is the biggest quiz update since we launched courses.
Six new question types (Pro): True/False, Written Answer, Fill in the Blank, Ordering, Matching, and Image Matching. Everything is graded on the server, and the answers never reach the student's browser. Ordering and matching options are shuffled per student.
New one-by-one layout. One question per screen, progress bar, Previous/Next. Long quizzes stop feeling like a wall.
Per-question explanations. Students see "View Explanation" under each question after they submit. A score says how they did. An explanation says what to learn from it.
Plus shuffle settings for questions and answer options.
Also in this release
- Students can restart a course. Admins can reset a student's progress too.
- Works properly with the latest FluentAuth (magic links, 2FA on the portal login).
- Fixed embedded videos getting blocked by Wordfence and similar WAF rules.
- Fixed comment count drift after moderation.
- Block editor and space page labels are now translatable.

If you're building something with the new quiz types or a custom space menu, post it here. I'd love to see it. Please let us know in the comments about this update and what we should ship next. More cooking!
You are absolutely awsome, omg, thanks a lot!!!
π₯
Nice one!
An import option from lifterlms would be great, with content and quizzes
Shahjahan JewelΒ Next shipment to include drip lessons would be awesome!
BOOYAH! Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU. The quiz update is huge.
Thanks for the update... Full access to space menu is highly welcomed .
Let's not forget the drip lesson feature
Bryan WilliamΒ This is what we are waiting also.
Youβre amazing.
I think the course module is quite complete now.
All we have left are the certificates, and then it will definitely be the best.
wow wow wow
WOAAHH...let's play with all this new upgrades :D thanks!
This is great. Please also enhance quiz features in Fluent Forms.
And particularly for Fluent Forms (and would also work for Community Quiz): variables. Allow scorekeeping across different variables. This would allow grading per category or section (or more advanced personality-style quizzes).
Great updates! Thank you!
Shahjahan JewelΒ can you please add all Fluent- blocks (forms, booking, cart,...) to the gutenberg editor?
Natascha VantuykomΒ They should start with fluentCart blocks
Shahjahan JewelΒ Thanks, great update, especially for the long-awaited per-question explanations! That's major progress! Two questions in relation to quizzes, as you asked for feedback: 1) Is the feature allowing users to retake the course optional? We are happy for our users to redo the course anytime they want, but they are never allowed to retake the quizzes (the initial score is final). This is to avoid people getting the maximum score once they know the answers (we have leaderboards for each group, and all-time leaderboards, and they are all based on the first attempt so that it's fair). I couldn't see an option in the course settings, so I'm wondering where that control is. 2) It would be great if we could disable negative messages, such as "You failed this quiz, retake it". For our users, quizzes are optional and part of a gamification process. They can take them seriously or not, and can answer them randomly if they just want to get to the next section (quizzes are never blocking). We also need to be able to disable retaking a quiz, for the reasons explained above. Finally, it would be fantastic if we could add a (variable) time limit to take a quiz. Thanks for considering this as you're working on quizzes, and keep up the good work!
Screenplay UnlimitedΒ Noted. We will review this. Thanks for the feedback.
Raiyan MarzanΒ Thanks Raiyan! I have more feedback re fluent community not directly related to quizzes, what's the best way to provide it? Open a support ticket with all the items, mentioning this chat? Post here?
Screenplay UnlimitedΒ Yeah, you can open a support ticket
Raiyan MarzanΒ Shahjahan JewelΒ Ticket #178579 opened with a summary of my feedback at this stage. Here is a copy below for those interested:
Hi,
Following my exchange with Raiyan Marzan in the FluentCommunity community space, who suggested I open a support ticket with my feedback, here is a consolidated list of feature requests. These cover the remaining gaps that prevent a clean migration from LearnDash to FluentCommunity for users with established course structures. I am aware that FC has never stated that it would replace a full LMS such as Learndash, but it is getting closer so it would be interesting to find out what could be implemented in FC and what we might need to develop ourselves (or through third-party add-ons).
A note on scope: we are only listing features we feel should be part of FluentCommunity core. We are not asking about add-ons such as notes, certificates, or other features that either already exist from third parties or could be developed independently, such as the upcoming Gamipress Leaderboards for FC or Partial Payment for FC.

Quiz improvements (already shared with Jewel and Raiyan)
As discussed in the community space following Jewel's v2.11 update:
- Ability to disable quiz retakes β leaderboards based on first-attempt scores are a common gamification pattern, and allowing retakes undermines fairness for any site using them
- Ability to disable negative messaging such as "You failed this quiz, retake it" β for sites where quizzes are part of a gamification process rather than a gating mechanism, this message is inappropriate and discouraging
- Optional time limit per quiz β a variable time limit that can be set per quiz, for sites that want to test recall rather than allow open-book answering
---
1) Course structure β the most critical migration blocker
LearnDash has four levels:
- Course
- Sections (no progression β same as FC sections)
- Lessons (which users can rename β I use "Modules" for adult learners)
- Topics
FluentCommunity currently has three levels:
- Course
- Sections (no progression)
- Lessons
This structural mismatch is the single biggest blocker for any LearnDash user migrating to FluentCommunity with existing course content. Courses built on the LD four-level structure β which is common β cannot be reproduced in FC as it stands. Two approaches could solve this:
- Add a "Module" level above Lessons (grouping lessons into modules), or
- Add a "Topic" sub-level below Lessons (keeping the default LD taxonomy of Course β Section β Lesson β Topic)
Either approach would allow existing LD course structures to be reproduced in FC without restructuring all content. The choice of approach is yours β both would solve the migration problem.
Additionally, it would be very valuable if FC allowed users to rename each taxonomy level β for example, replacing "Lessons" with "Modules". The word "lesson" carries connotations of school and teaching that are inappropriate for adult professional development contexts. Platforms aimed at experienced professionals typically use terms like "Module", "Unit", or "Session". This is a simple UX change that would make FC more suitable for a much wider audience.
---
2) GamiPress integration β module/lesson completion hooks
I have been working directly with the GamiPress development team on their FluentCommunity integration. They have already implemented everything that is currently possible within FC's architecture β including points for lesson completion and quiz events. However, they cannot complete the integration until FluentCommunity adds a WordPress action hook fired on module/lesson completion (i.e. when all lessons within a module are completed, or all topics within a lesson are completed, depending on the course structure option you choose re 1 above).
This is not a theoretical request. The GamiPress team has confirmed they are ready to implement this the moment the hook exists in FC. Adding it would allow GamiPress to close a real gap in their FC integration that currently blocks both their users and LD/FC users.
3) Autocomplete lessons
For many adult learning platforms, forcing users to manually click "Mark Complete" creates unnecessary friction without adding educational value. A setting to automatically mark a lesson as complete when it is accessed (with no need for a video to be watched when present) would benefit any site where the goal is progress tracking rather than enforced engagement.
---
4) Resume where you left off
A way to display a button or link returning a user to their last accessed lesson β usable as a shortcode or block in the members area or course listing. This is a basic UX expectation for any serious course platform.
---
5) Days until course expiry
A way to display the number of days remaining before a learner's course access expires β as a shortcode or block usable anywhere on the site (members area, course page, email). This is essential for any site using course-level or group-level expiration (for example when a course is sold through a FluentCart membership).
---
6) Simple Course Timer
The ability to track how long users spend in a course, with the option to block completion (and certificate issuance) until a minimum amount of time has been spent. This serves two purposes: it prevents users from rushing through content in minutes to obtain a certificate, and it provides meaningful time-in-course data for reporting to clients or accreditation bodies about each cohort. This is a widely used LearnDash feature with no FC equivalent. Related info should be added to the CSV report (total time spent in a course, time until completion, date & time a course was started and completed by each user from the same group).
---
7) Space/group expiration
The ability to set a date on which all members of a space automatically lose access, with an optional notification email ahead of the end of access. This is essential for cohort-based and time-limited workshop formats, which are a very common use case for professional development platforms.
---
8) Drip content by space/group
Unlock lessons on a schedule set at the space/group level rather than globally, so that different cohorts can follow the same course on different timelines. This is another standard LearnDash feature with no FC equivalent.
---
9) Shortcode and HTML rendering in spaces, lessons, and pages
FluentCommunity's SPA architecture currently prevents standard WordPress shortcodes and most HTML from rendering correctly inside spaces, lessons, and the new FC pages. This is a significant limitation for any site that integrates with other WordPress plugins.
One of FluentCommunity's strongest selling points is its integration with the wider Fluent ecosystem. It is particularly frustrating that content areas inside FC cannot render shortcodes from other Fluent products. At minimum, we would ask that the most commonly used Fluent shortcodes be supported inside FC spaces, lessons, and pages β specifically:
- FluentCart product and download shortcodes ( [fluent_cart_products] and related)
- FluentBooking booking widgets - FluentCRM conditional content (that shows different content to course users depending on specific tags for example)
- Any other Fluent-native shortcodes or blocks that users are likely to embed in course or group/space/page content
Beyond Fluent-native shortcodes, the broader issue affects any site using third-party embeds (chatbot assistants, booking widgets, interactive tools) or conditional content. This is a frequently raised concern across the FluentCommunity user base and addressing it β even partially, starting with first-party Fluent shortcodes β would remove a major architectural barrier for migration from any WordPress-based LMS.
---
10) Fluent Members and gated custom pages / content drip
We are looking forward to the upcoming Fluent Members plugin and hoping it will allow gating of standard and custom WordPress pages. If it does, this would open up a very practical migration path: converting LearnDash groups into gated standard pages that link to their corresponding FC courses. This would solve the rendering limitations mentioned above by keeping interactive content on standard WordPress pages while using FC for the course structure itself. Fluent Members might also address the drip content use case mentioned above. Any clarity on what Fluent Members will and won't cover would be greatly appreciated.
---
Roadmap clarity
Finally, a broader request: FluentCommunity currently lacks a clear public roadmap (it looks like the existing roadmap here https://community.wpmanageninja.com/fluentcommunity-roadmp/#/24/hasn't been updated since 2025 regarding the features planned or released, so it's unclear whether it's useful or not to contribute there). For users planning a migration from LearnDash or another LMS, it is very difficult to make informed decisions without knowing which features are planned, which are under consideration, and which are not on the roadmap. It would be extremely helpful to know, for the items listed above, which will be considered and which won't β so that we can plan accordingly: either waiting for FC to implement them, or building our own solutions.
Thank you for the continued progress on FluentCommunity β the quiz improvements in v2.11 and the pages introduced recently are a great step forward. I'm happy to discuss any of these in more detail and to work with the devs as a beta-tester to help develop any of these features so that they are part of the FC core and benefit all FC users.
Best regards,
Emmanuel
Screenplay UnlimitedΒ We will have a look into it. Thanks for the details π
Shahjahan JewelΒ wrote, "And you can decide who sees each link: everyone, logged-in members, logged-out visitors, or members of specific spaces and courses."
Please add "specific roles" to that list.
( beg-grovel-drool π )
Fantastic update! Thank you for the hard work. You and your team are the best. π
Thanks again for a great update π
Advanced quizzes are really great! :) There are just two things missing for me to be completely happy:
- In the single-question view, there should be an additional option to immediately check the answer for the question being displayed.
- A navigation table with question numbers. The progress bar helps you see what stage of the quiz youβre at, but it isnβt very useful beyond that. The navigation table serves this purpose and also lets you quickly jump between questions. This is especially helpful when a quiz has a large number of questions and you want to go back to a specific questionβsay, one thatβs halfway through the quiz.
These two changes would allow me to switch from Learndash to FC with peace of mind :)

Mat Kyc, we will review these suggestions, thank you.
