π Images Not Displaying Correctly in Posts (When Reordered or Used with Polls)
Hi Fluent Team π
Weβve been actively using Fluent Community for our internal community at fdmedia, where we support affiliate marketers and WordPress users (AAWP, ClickWhale, MH Themes). First off, I want to say we really appreciate how flexible and intuitive the platform is β it's been a great fit for our self-hosted community needs.
That said, I wanted to flag a recurring issue weβve experienced around image handling in the post editor, along with a related bug involving polls.
Image Rendering Bug (When Reordered)
While drafting guides or case studies, I often upload screenshots/infographics using the Fluent Community editor. By default, images are inserted at the bottom of the post. Since that doesnβt always fit the context, I manually move the images upward to more relevant sections of the post.
In the editor, everything looks fine. But after publishing:
- Some images donβt display at all.
- To some users, the images appear as broken links or are missing completely.
- In some cases, they load for the original author only (possibly due to caching).
This is affecting post clarity β especially when visual examples are key to our content.
Related Issue: Polls Break Images
We've also noticed that when a poll block is included in a post, any images that were working earlier suddenly disappear. This seems to happen regardless of where the image is placed.
We've tested this on multiple posts with different users and the issue is repeatable. When the poll is removed, images reappear.
π‘ Feature & UX Suggestions
- Allow Inline Image Placement
Let users insert images directly where their cursor is, instead of forcing them to upload and reorder from the bottom. - Improve Media Handling When Reordering
Ensure images retain their paths and don't break when moved to another part of the post. - Add Pre-Publish Media Check
A quick validation (e.g. "Broken image detected") before publishing could help authors fix issues early. - Resolve Poll/Image Conflict
If polls are conflicting with media rendering, it might help to sandbox or isolate poll content in the frontend.
π Example Screenshots
I've added some screenshots showing how the same post appears differently depending on user or order of blocks and how it conflicts with image & poll.
These were uploaded via the editor and rearranged manually.
π Final Thoughts
Weβre really enjoying Fluent Community and are excited about its potential. It's clear you're building a powerful product for teams like ours.
If you need more examples, logs, or want help testing fixes, Iβm happy to support however I can. Thanks for being so open to feedback β looking forward to whatβs next!
Warm regards,
