How do we find the actual URL for the course we've just created?
I can set the "slug" but I'm guessing there's a directory that I'm missing that isn't obvious....
domain/????/coursename
it's not courses, or lessons....
I guess a follow question would be, can we set courses to be publicly viewable to people who are not members of the community??? (if not , I would like to request this feature!!)
Kevin Hood, I dont think you can join the course if you are not logged-in.
I have tested if in Public fCommunity (Portal Access Settings: Everyone) and also Group was Public and within this Group I have Public Course and the user is asked to log-in (I was not able to see the content of the course on one brand new course - it shows me 0 topics, 0 lessons EDIT: THE TRAINING NEEDS TO BE SELF-PACED if we want to see the content in a Public-Everyone mode) but still unable to enroll without being logged-in).
I am not sure about the direct link to a lesson (groups/lessons dont have any links) but when you copy the source link to the course (I have copied it from the left pane with right-click) you can see direct link like this below.
It is not a pretty link π but when the user is logged-in then he can access that course with that link without any problem.
Example link: domain.com/portal/courses/view/16/lessons
Not Important π, I'm having trouble even accessing the community pages at all unless I'm a logged in user...
Kevin Hood, I didnt notice any problem with accessing pages like: Spaces, Members, Leaderboard, Feed from the top menu (Portal Access Settings: Everyone).
BTW: I am not sure if the menu: Members should be visible in Public-Everyone - Admin should decide if he wants to enable/disable this menu item. Also I dont think its good idea to display users First and Last name and other details in Public view (GDPR & Security reasons).
Not Important π,I simply can't access anything from domain/portal it seems.
Testing on a live staging site. So not sure what the problem is.
Kevin Hood, I suggest to test with logged-in user with the Community Admin role first + Groups are configured as Public + Courses are configured as Public and they are Published. Once everything works and you will be familiar its easy to check with other permissions.
PS. the case scenario where Portal Access Settings: Everyone is better to leave it at the end of testing.
Yeah my only goal here is to replace learndash with the course portion of fluent communities.
And some courses I offer public access to, no login required.
So I'm ultimately requesting that feature (which seems to be not available at the moment).
Kevin Hood, fight for it π and share your findings here so the fTeam can your suggestions into their consideration.
This Community plugin has few parts/modules: Spaces+feed (base), Leaderboard, Courses, Members (base), Chat (base) so share your feedback to all of them so we all can open our eyes π especially for great suggestions.
Nice, I can see it now. Had to set the portal to public. But yeah, can't access the course without logging in.
