Has anyone here gone through a migration from Thrive Apprentice to FluentCommunity?

I’m about to start a migration test: moving courses and membership areas, and I’d love to learn from your experiences.

  • What worked well for you?
  • Any pitfalls or things to watch out for?
  • Best practices to keep things smooth for students?
  • SEO: we have many courses ranked on top 1-4 positions. 301 redirections? Other ideas?

I’ll be sharing my own lessons along the way too.

  • rebuilt everything in FCommunity .... was a boring copy paste task but coffee and Porto made it easier :D
  • transitioned from selling single courses to selling a community subscription where courses are included for the time of the subscription.... if i would keep on selling standalone courses, i would probably stay with apprentice
  • students don't mind about using the new platform (although i still think Apprentice looks way better design-wise).....i already used both apprentice and community at the same time for my students, so it's totally fine for them, that the courses are now inside the community, too.

Otherwise:

i still have Apprentice up and running for my old course-buyers, because i built an custom apprentice dashboard, where i can show them their courses, news, important links, etc. far better, than in the community (it's not that i couldn't display all of this in the community, but it looks to cluttered in the community).

Also i find it pretty easy in Apprentice to have a course in different products and therefore can easily manage one-time buyers and subscribers at the same time. To be confident in doing this inside the community, i'd like to have tags directly integrated in community course access settings....something like: course access if user has one of the following tags....in this case i could be sure that the user still has access to a bought course, although i remove access to everything when the subscription is cancelled.

SEO: i excluded every part of apprentice for SEO, so i can't say anything about that.

I find this, pretty useful, and very aligned to what I think about the reasons on how to migrate or not.

Sell a community vs being a marketplace of courses.

And yes, I also think Apprentice looks wayyy prettier and more attractive. I also think that.

But, I am also thinking that, probably, one of the reasons of the migration (for me, at least), is that even students love how it looks, and we have a nice percentage of completion, I have the heartfelt that probably, something like FC, is more "simple", and does not look "as serious", so that could make a difference on engagement, participation and completion.

Have you experience something like... people being more active?
