GDPR enhancement
We need the option, on the Community Registration Form, to add an additional checkbox for collecting consent to receive marketing emails (and the option to add tags and lists in consequence).
Right now, we only have the βTerms and Conditionsβ checkbox, which is fine for sending community updates.
But we are missing the opportunity to properly collect marketing consent.
For that, we would also need a deeper integration with FluentCRM. Similar to what other plugins do, once someone registers in the community, the system should be able to check whether the user ticked that box or not (and, if so, automatically assign the proper tags and lists).
As it stands, someone who is not very GDPR-aware could easily assume itβs βenoughβ to just add those contacts into a marketing list in FCRM. Which could easily end up with a not-so-nice fine.
I know it feels like a burden.
But itβs also more transparent for users (so they donβt feel spammed), and ultimately more productive for us as marketers and community managers - protecting both user trust and our domain reputation.
+1 - For this reason I have two separate sign ups. So far we have the people on the mailing list not in the community, and half of the people in the community are not on the mailing list.
Wendy ShoefΒ thatβs one of the first things I realized that will be happening due to this πββοΈ
