Feature Request: Space Access by User Role
Hi Shahjahan Jewel , would it be possible to get slightly more granular control over spaces, similar to what we have with access to communities? - see picture below 👇
For example, it we have the user role 'Guest Account' they will will have access or be able to join certain groups or if they have a different role for example 'Member' then they can sign up to groups for paid members etc. This should then allow for easy integration with most membership plugins.
Hi all, just wanted to circle back on this. I had a look through the Flowmattic integration that just launched and its very powerful. Space access by user role can be achieved using this integration.
Essentially, if a user has a specific role they can be automatically added to specific spaces/courses. There is also a action to remove users from spaces if their user role changes. This feature looks like it would work well with membership plugins which all generally allow for role change on membership activation/deactivation so you could easily put certain spaces/courses behind a paywall.
There is also an option to create a post within a space when a user joins. I need to explore this further, but you could have an automated announcement post within a specific space so that when a new user is added it adds a post. It could be something like "{User Name} has just joined {Group Name]. Please give them a warm welcome 👋".
Lots of potential automations here. I hope this may be of some help to anyone who is considering using Fluent Community for this purpose. 👍
Have you been able to figure this out? This functionality is a MUST HAVE for people who run paid memberships and don't want to manually add people ... it would be better if we didn't need to purchase a other service to do it.
Joseph Babineau The dev team have expanded on this and from what I understand with just using the free version of FluentCRM you can control individual space access on a per user basis using the FluentCRM automation feature. Essentially it uses users tagging to achieve this. I believe this will cover most use cases and FluentCRM is realistically a key part of the FluentCommunity ecosystem to get the best range of functionality and community user engagement. FluentCRM automations also has direct integration with most of the major membership management plugins such as MemberPress, Restrict Content Pro and Paid Membership Pro. Hope that may be of some help.
I did see a setting where I COULD "auto sync wordpress user data" which I assume means fluentcrm would be synced automatically when tags are added or removed to wordpress users. If so this would solve our issue.
Joseph Babineau yes this solves the issue. I have been using the auto sync WP user data in FluentCRM for a few years now and it works great. The only part that doesn’t work is the profile avatar. It defaults to Gravatar and there is no integration with local user avatars added via membership plugins or local avatar plugins. This isn’t essential for FluentCRM though.
