Direct Messages
Is it just me or does everyone get direct messages to the FluentCommunity with 8,095 members? Not sure if that is a bug or someone added me to the whole DM group...
That is the chat space for the FluentCommunity space. If you leave the space, I assume that would remove you from that chat space as well.
Thomas Oates but I don’t want to leave the space. And since this happens only for FluentCommunity but not the others, I think it might be a bug.
Andre Daus The other spaces here (at least the ones I've joined) don't have the chat feature enabled. That is why it only happens for the FluentCommunity space.
Thomas Oates aha. Then, I'd consider that a bug. Direct Messages should only be sent to the intended users, not all.
Andre Daus Those aren't direct messages, they are space chat messages. Direct messages would be messages sent directly to certain individuals. So, it doesn't appear to be a bug (at least to me) given how it is designed. Having said that, I don't really see the need for space chat if the space is open for everyone to create posts (seems redundant to me).
Thomas Oates hm, maybe I just don't fully understand that messaging then. I did not set it up on my community. And here these chats (?) pop up next to direct messages. If that is intended, I feel it's bad UX.
No option to be in the space but not being notified about new messages ?
Jorge de los Reyes Yes the only option is to leave the space, which makes it a bit annoying. I hope chat gets a nice update soon.
