Critical UX Limitations in LMS Module in Fluent Community; Request for Immediate Improvement.

Dear Fluent Community Team Shahjahan Jewel

First, thank you for the great work you’ve done on the Fluent Community and LMS plugin. We truly appreciate how it brings our learning community together.

However, I’d like to bring an important limitation to your attention that’s significantly affecting our students’ learning experience, especially for novice users.

1️⃣ Issue with YouTube Video Player
The LMS module still uses the default YouTube player. This player:

  • Shows the YouTube watermark.
  • Displays distracting end screens with multiple YouTube video suggestions.
  • YouTube default share button appeared even on a paid course (That mean, enrolled students can share the paid courses with their friends and loved ones).

This takes our paid students away from our learning platform, breaking their focus and often leading them to unrelated YouTube content.

Many students (especially beginners) get lost and have trouble finding their way back to the course or community.

👉 Suggested Solution:
Please consider integrating a distraction-free embedded video player that disables YouTube branding and end-screen suggestions, for example, using a privacy-enhanced embed or a custom player like Plyr or Video.js that hides YouTube UI elements.

2️⃣ Lesson Navigation Icons Not Sticky
When students scroll down while taking a lesson, the ‘< Previous Lesson >’ and ‘< Next Lesson >’ navigation buttons disappear. This makes it harder for students to move through lessons, especially on longer pages.

👉 Suggested Solutions:

  • Make the lesson navigation buttons sticky so they remain visible at all times.
  • Or, even better: add an option for lessons to auto-advance when a student reaches the end of the current lesson.

Both improvements would make the learning flow smoother and help students stay engaged without confusion.

Why This Is Critical:
These limitations directly impact student retention, focus, and overall experience on our platform. Many students lose track of their lessons or exit the LMS entirely without knowing, because of these issues. Fixing these points will significantly improve course completion rates and learner satisfaction.

I hope you see this as an urgent enhancement and prioritize it in your next update. I am happy to share more details or help test any improvements.

Thank you so much for considering this!

Best regards,

Ade Adedotu

Whilst looking forward to the launch of the FC video player, I would suggest that YouTube is probably not the best choice of video host.

Even if steps are taken to hide the watermark, related videos, etc - there will always be a time when YouTube will fix that workaround and put them back.

If you're charging for your courses, you should be paying for your video hosting - bunny.net streaming works well.

That's right Jonathan Gwyer , in this case you need Ade  to either have videos hosted on your own or Vimeo/other, which is much more suitable than YouTube for educational purposes and brings many more benefits.

Even though I would love a Plyr Player or Presto Player integration, it wouldn’t be viable for YouTube videos since neither player supports YouTube captions. https://github.com/sampotts/plyr/issues/1090
