Being able to select which Recent notifications to remove from the list

Right now have 20+ recent notifications. Some are more important to me so those I want to keep in the list other things I just want to remove. Right now there is a blue dot next to the text/post. What about switching the blue dot with an X and having it as its own link to the right of the text link that goes to the post. So that one can click the X and have the specific text/post removed from the notification list? This means the recent notification becomes a mini favorite list of things I still want a closer look at.
Hmm I got a feeling that there is something I am not grasping correctly....
