Should We Turn This Plugin Into a Product?
I've received numerous messages about the FluentCommunity plugin, which is the backbone of this platform. I'm experiencing some doubtsβdo other people really need this plugin to create their own community platforms? There are already a few options in the WordPress market like BuddyBoss and BuddyPress, which seem to work well.
We've tailored the features of FluentCommunity to meet the specific needs of our platform:
- Gathering user feedback on our products
- Providing a space for user interactions
- Incorporating a lightweight chat feature for messaging
- Integrating with FluentCRM for bulk email capabilities
- Ensuring high speed, similar to our other plugins, and fully utilizing Vue JS & REST API.
- Managing multiple groups to keep conversations organized
- Including admin and moderator tools to combat spam
Beyond these, there aren't many other significant features to handle. So, I'm turning to you with a couple of questions:
- Would you find this solution useful for building a similar platform?
- What would your use cases be?
Let's talk about this. We already have a lot on our plate, and currently, only one developer is dedicated to this project, focusing on adding the necessary features. To be honest, we're not yet prepared for marketing and support.
Yes, yes and yes, much needed! buddyboss and peepso are way too messy and complicated. It would be just awesome like it is, with fluentcrm action to add and remove a user from a group, and triggers for when a user is added or removed from a group
Hi Shahjahan. For me: yes yes yes. I explain you why :
- Your products are well coded, speed, beautiful and modern. (love)
- I'm using many Fluent products, and want an interoperable platform
- BuddyBoss is huge, heavy, slow and expansive
- Community Meta seems to be simple, clear and doing the job.
- Community Meta could be reliable with FluentCRM without WP Fusion for example.
thanks :)
Perfect explanation πβ₯οΈ
I forgot this:
- your documentation is well explained, and we can write some plugin to extend our system (not available with BB)
Yes!
Itβs an absolutely YES for me too.
Thereβs no community plugin currently on the market with the much needed philosophy of control, functionality, and fluent-cy (π) typical of every WPMN products.
No light options available from the LMS world, outrageously heavy and buggy or un-functional options from other plugin options⦠and super expedience and overkill options from the Saas world.
This overview makes all of us with digital communities opt for things like slack, discord or similar. Which make it difficult to create real and engaged communities. Or for options like Facebook groups, that, even itβs great, you do not have the control β¦ and itβs so distracting if you want to keep a focused community under a brand.
Im sure it will be a game changer for many Wordpress based business π
Iβm on the side of thinking that probably many people will be fine, even with the current functions of the beta, as far as building a community, depending in the use, not necessary has to have an exponential growth, but a progressive one.
Taking this into account, Iβm sure many of us will be super happy to help in any suggestions that may surge regarding this π
Ho and please, adding translation without using Loco Translate. Tired to use this with BuddyBoss.
I agree with what has been mentioned already. I really like the simplicity of this. It could integrate alongside a lot of what I currently have. I left Buddyboss to an external community SaaS, but have always wished to have something like this that would keep my community members on our website. I also love the idea of it integrating with FluentCRM, Boards, etc.
As you know, I've been interested in this for a while. My use case is quite similar to yours, as I'm also developing WordPress plugins. I want to create a community for my customers, with separate groups for each product or at least different categories. Iβd also like to have a group for affiliates and another for feedback. I will use this for getting feedback on new features, and keep people updated on progress of things, etc. that I really don't have a way to do otherwise except Facebook, which is not very nice.
I enjoy interacting with my customers to gather ideas and suggestions, and I could really use a platform like this right now. Otherwise, I'll have to set up Discord, which I'd prefer to avoid. I appreciate the simpler approach here.
It would be great if I could use FluentCRM to send invites to new customers to join. So overall, I would use it in a very similar way to you. I think a few small refinements, like better notification preferences, would be beneficial. For instance, I'm getting notifications for comments on threads that don't relate to me.
"notifications for comments on threads" -> Just fixed the issue. Thanks for the valuable feedback. Appreciate your thoughts.
I understand the limitations of supporting it if it is not economically feasible yet. Perhaps a small group of us could get started on it and see how it goes? I do think you would be surprised how many would be interested in it. We don't need a full website advertising it yet, or a full documentation area. We already know how it works, we just need some basic guidance to get it installed.
FYI: The ability to edit my comments would be a helpful feature.
Yes and Yes, I also agree with the other community members, this plugin would be a great added bonus and asset in the Fluent arsenal and the the integrations with be that much more welcomed. Obviously we are committed to staying with your suite of products, our customers benefit from them and we would like to offer them new and improved solutions through your plugins.
I like the idea to release it....This would be great for a community addon plugin for wordpress that can integrate all fluent systems. ...Initially, there was a menu item on this site for courses (not LMS), which would add a complete and more wholesome solution, similar to skool - https://prnt.sc/J-7IkpgH5cte but on wordpress!
My concern is that posing big feature requests like classes and leaderboards will be overwhelming, and distract from the simplicity of this product when compared to a full suite like Circle. I think the product should cap the scope, at least for now, to keep expectations properly aligned.
Yes. and please add gamification like Skool
Yes for sure!
Oh absolutely!! Having a membership site, this would be a great way to communicate with my members without the need to send an email, allow members to opt-in to communicate with others without the need for a directory or open membership information. Threads that could be one on one would be fantastic...we do a "pre-season" sale of items and this would be a great way for me to have a behind the scenes one on one chat with a member regarding their orders - individually. Making sure it links with Fluent CRM to keep track of the threads is a must. Love the idea!
Another use case I would use this for is my membership. It would be an added perk I can advertise to have their own community to join. I use FluentCRM for adding their membership tag and user role, so I would need that work work similarly to remove them if they cancel their membership.
I find this forum easier to use and more pleasing in general than others I have used.
I would love to see it as a product.
In my case, I would probably use it to gather together donors to a non-profit as well as different groups of my students for different purposes.
Basically, a simple collaboration and discussion community where I could divide everyone up into their relative groups.
It would work great for my purposes exactly as it is right now.
I think one of the reasons it is nice is because it is similar to Facebook which everyone is used to.
Shahjahan Jewel did you decide yet? π€©
Yeah. Would love to hear if there are any news on this :)
I think this would be a great addition. I would love to see how it integrates with Fluent CRM. I could also imagine some great integrations with Fluent Support, Boards, and Forms.
Well, I think I'm VERY late on this boat... hehe
I'd use this plugin to build my own community to share private content for people engaged to me.
Maybe embed private YouTube videos/live broadcasts made for the community.
Maybe private videos using Presto Player or Bunny . Net player to avoid the download option...
I prefer NOT to use FB Groups, so Fluent Community will be my dream come true.
I don't want to upload files on my VPS, I'd prefer to integrate to a Cloud service like Amazon, Google Drive or whatever...
Not only that, but I'd like the option to delete old files or make some content available for a limited time (useful on some product/service launch as scarcity trigger).
Embedding remote/external videos is a must for me.
I'd love to have specif and private/separate communities... For example, "Website Lovers" or "WhatsApp Marketing Enthusiasts", etc... Not everything together.
I hope I can install it this week and try it soon and give you feedback Shahjahan Jewel
BTW, I think FB changed some settings on my or your profile, because I can't tag you anymore... hehe
