it is fun to have this in community but i think we need to control what does points mean how do members get them

comments = ? points
and more

Ryk Melck Ramsis Kasis I've seen Shahjahan Jewel write about this before. The Leaderboard only awards points through likes, indeed. In this post, I already suggested that completing courses should also be rewarded with points. Additionally, factors like "logging in every day" (similar to what happens on Duolingo) or making comments and posts should also be items to earn points. If the community administrator didn’t want all these scoring options, they could disable them, but in general, engagement actions should be rewarded in many cases to keep the community highly active. I’d love to see this in my project!
Elisa Faria I completely agree—it could feel pretty discouraging to never earn points if you don't get any Likes. 😊 The leaderboard would need some adjustments, though. For instance, we'd need to clearly track where the points are coming from.
There would also need to be a way to deduct points; otherwise, people could just create a ton of Likes without any real engagement. So, perhaps there should be some kind of limit in place?
Here are some examples to consider:
- Post liked → Like removed
- New post created → Post deleted
- New comment added → Comment deleted
- Joined a space → Left/removed from the space
And so on. What do you think?
Ryk Melck i agree till now i use invision community and there we have a lot of options like many reactions not just likes and each reaction gives you a kind of points and then as Elisa Faria mentioned also comments and posts and number of logins and a lot of criterias that influence the process we hope we can see some updates in the future

I see the Leaderboard as a key element for the success of thousands of users like us. Think about it: nowadays, with the competition from so many advanced social networks on the internet, building a community from scratch and keeping it consistently active is quite challenging. Here’s how I solve this:
1. Providing exclusive and relevant content (through courses, for example) for my users.
2. Fostering a sense of healthy competition (through a more sophisticated Leaderboard).
That’s why I insist so much on improving the features of the Courses module and the Leaderboard.
It will make FluentCommunity one of the most popular plugins in all of WordPress!

Elisa Faria I agree with you. I would like to assign points for every member you invite through your referral link too. I know Referral is completely different feature but integrating that into leaderboard point will be so great. I have a community of over 6k on facebook. I want to assign a point for joining through a particular link I share on that group. The points can be used to redeem any merch or product on our store.
I don't know how this can be implemented but its a feature I need so dearly. The point system needs to be seriously improved on.
Would be great to have ability to add points manually and via API (it will allow me to create mission center for customer marketing).
Of course other activities should be configurable eg. posting, commenting, likes and comments on my posts/comments, completing curse.
