Introducing Pages for Your Spaces - FluentCommunity 2.10

At WordCamp Europe in Kraków, I sat down with Remkus de Vries, and he asked for pages inside spaces and explained exactly why he needed them. That conversation stuck with me, so this one is dedicated to him.

Pages for Spaces

Every space has a Pages tab now.

  • Written in the normal block editor, so it can be anything: welcome guide, rules, resource list, FAQ, course outline
  • Order the pages however you want
  • Comments on or off, per page
  • Multiple page templates

Your community can show up on LLMs now

Until now, when ChatGPT or Claude visited your community, they got a blank page. The portal renders in the browser, so crawlers saw nothing.

Now the portal serves real HTML to anything that isn't a browser. Posts, spaces and courses show their actual content. So search engines can index your threads, AI tools can cite your answers as LLMs love real conversations and communities.

Privacy: it only ever renders what a logged-out visitor is already allowed to see. Private and secret spaces are not rendered at all. Nothing changes there.

Also in this release

  • Push notifications clear the matching badge when you open them, and in-app toasts no longer double up with push
  • Settings screens are proper routes now, so the back button works
  • Faster Pages Manager and a faster popular times report
  • Better dark mode, and the space header menu and toasts fixed up for phones
  • New action hooks for lesson and section events, if you build on top of this
  • Fixes: iOS lesson scrolling, video uploads showing as links, daily digest not going out same day, quiz submission with no enabled questions, stale space cache, PHP 8.1 notices, and more strings opened up to translators

Please share your feedback on these new features in the comments.

BRUNO DE SOUZA

With this shift to Google indexing, do Google Analytics and Tag Manager work better?

Shahjahan Jewel

BRUNO DE SOUZA Google analytics already works. and yes, Google indexing will work better.

Teddy Skokos

Great feature

Bryan William

Boom 💥 💥 💥 another amazing feature just dropped....

Everard Brockett

Wow this is a Major release!!!!!

Ross FCA

Amazing, Pages has been requested many many times on here. Any chance these could eventually live outside of a Space? That would definitely shift things towards an overall Portal experience where spaces/discussions are just one aspect of a wider platform. I'd see a Page as standalone as a Space or a Course.

Shahjahan Jewel

Ross FCA yes, we will make it available for global scope as well.

Itachi Sensei

Shahjahan Jewel YEs, please!!!

Nicolai

Ross FCA How would that be different from a regular Wordpress Page? They live outside the space.

Ross FCA

Nicolai regular wordpress pages live outside the whole of fluent community. This would be inside the community but outside a space.

Nicolai

Ah ok. Got it Ross FCA

Bryan William

Shahjahan Jewel Thanks for much for considering the global scope, at least I wear my fluent cart default pages a proper skin.

Gabriel Mathew

Shahjahan Jewel Exactly what I wanted, thanks very much for the upcoming global scope release

Blessing Kennedy

Shahjahan Jewel This is very important, the global scope will unify the overall Portal experience. I look forward to it

Jason Soper

great feature indeed! Just updated to the latest version, but any wordpress page that i had previously created and wrapped in the "Fluent Community Frame" page template is no longer wrapped in the frame correctly. The CSS is all messed up. Would this have been caused by this new pages feature?

I am assuming that this new pages feature will negate the need for using wordpress pages for spaces, but I have also been using the Fluent Community frame to wrap the fluent cart pages as well.

Shahjahan Jewel

Jason Soper we will take a look into it.

Jason Soper

Shahjahan Jewel thanks!!

Sharon C

Shahjahan Jewel I'm using Fluent Community Frame page templates as well--I'm glad I read this before I updated; it would have messed up several of my WordPress pages that I am using within spaces now.

Shahjahan Jewel

Sharon C We are going to release a patch in a few minutes.

Sharon C

Shahjahan Jewel thank you!

Raiyan Marzan

Jason Soper Sharon C We have just released v2.10.01

Jason Soper

Raiyan Marzan awesome! Everything is back to normal. Thanks for the quick update!

Sharon C

Raiyan Marzan Thanks for the quick turn around on this 🙂

Adam George

Shahjahan Jewel a site wide matching theme would fix this issue and just be a better option.

Robert Lee

I needed this! Well done.

Alexis Iroha

Awesome update...please can a custom workbook be created using html/css in a course section... because I have a client that wants an inbuilt workbook that people can fill in the community after a particular course Shahjahan Jewel

Alexis Iroha Fluent Forms works for this.

Alexis Iroha

Wendy Perkins Shoef ok but can I customize with code to my design on fluent form?

Alexis Iroha You can do almost anything you want if you know how. It will take custom code, obviously, but depending on how you want to design your workbook. I guess it depends on the purpose of the workbook. Is it more like a quiz to track knowledge learned (using the quiz module is good), or is it more like a journal that they keep (I'd personally use Google docs), or is it something they turn in? The best tool depends on the circumstances.

Alexis Iroha

Wendy Perkins Shoef thanks so much for this

Remkus de Vries

Love it when I propose a feature and it's not only being considered, but actually built. I'll be adding all the pages to my Within WordPress Guild now! Thank you, Jewel!

Lee Busch

re: "Normal Block Editor", does this mean we can use ANY block we have installed in the main Wordpress, like Pro blocks from block builder plugins? Or only vanilla wordpress blocks?

Shahjahan Jewel

Lee Busch only WordPress core blocks

Shahjahan Jewel is there a special reason why we can not use all gutenberg blocks?

Lee Busch

Shahjahan Jewel  that's too bad.

Ross FCA

Natascha Vantuykom they wouldn't render correctly. Fcom deliberately does not load custom scripts and styles, so any blocks that need those would just end up rendering as broken/plain html.

Ross FCA thanks for the explanation

David Churchill

Shahjahan Jewel what, I just realised my own SpacePages 😂

Maybe it's time you update the roadmap (please) so we know what's likely to be shipping in the future? 🙏

AS W

David Churchill i believe your solution wasn’t creating pages within fluent, but on WordPress. Or maybe i misunderstood what you did. I agree that they should make a roadmap but we’ve been all asking forever and they aren’t doing it. I believe they never will..

David Churchill

AS W it’s actually okay, my solution allows you to create custom Pages in Spaces, Courses and the Portal, so some minor teaks and I’ll release properly this week 🙏

But yes, a road map would be very useful.

Sandy Edwards

This is brilliant! I will be using this starting today. Is there any way that when opening a document on mobile inside the community there can be a back to community button? As it stands today (unless I’m doing something wrong) when opening a document on mobile inside— you have to refresh the app to go back.

kyler boudreau

This is HUGE.

Charlotte

kyler boudreau Sure. Yes. And something several other developers have already made for Fluent Community. A reliable roadmap would be less frustrating for developers and users a like. I'm quite grumpy about this atm - along with the lack of documentation!

kyler boudreau

Charlotte I wouldn't get too grumpy, otherwise you're stuck with BuddyBoss or Circle. I've done both. If Fluent Community never released another update it's already light years ahead of the competition.

Charlotte

kyler boudreau ♥️ Also: I’ve been with Fluent since Forms, bought Community on launch day, and along the way I’ve paid for the right to offer constructive feedback for plugins that I personally use.

kyler boudreau

Charlotte I hesr you. Started with forms and CRM. Jumped on community on launch as well. I’m terrified at the thought of having to ever use buddy boss again. But you’re right, you’ve earned the platform for courteous feedback.

Sella Yoffe

So cool 👏

AS W

now this is by far the most exciting update I’ve yet witnessed!!!! Wow!!! PAGES namely is exactly what I was longing for. I do have one request though: could the space open to a « Main » page instead of the conversations (posts)?

The browser and AI detection will be a game changer as well. Amazing!

Raiyan Marzan

AS W We will add a hook in the next release. Thank you!

AS W

Raiyan Marzan that would be perfect. Thank you!

Bill Stilwell

Is there a way to set a page so it is the first thing a visitor sees when they land on a site built using Fluent Community with the sidebar still showing?

Lee Busch

Bill Stilwell  This is a great suggestion.

A welcome screen or welcome message is a good user experience.

AS W

Lee Busch people around here use Wordpress pages and link their community. I would also like everything to be native to the community and not resort to using Wordpress pages at all

Lucie Tosakova

Are you planning to add an option to disable joining individual Spaces anytime soon? A lot of users here seem to be asking for the ability to turn this whole join/leave functionality off—no Spaces that users have to manually join or leave. Just one community with several topics/Spaces, while still functioning as a single unified “forum.” This is actually the only reason I’m still running Flarum. I’d really love to switch to this platform if this option became available.

Bryan William

Lucie Tosakova You can you fluentcrm to automatically add members to all spaces you have.

Lucie Tosakova

Bryan William No, I want to disable this native option.

Lucie Tosakova

Shahjahan Jewel any news, please? :(

Shahjahan Jewel

Lucie Tosakova we don't have a plan for this feature but maybe we can add some hooks to hide and disable the UI level join and leave button so you can only use the code level user joining / leaving.

Lucie Tosakova

Shahjahan Jewel Yes, please! Give us the option to remove this feature entirely and make users members of everything by default. That would be great!

Carlo Revelli

Shahjahan Jewel I also think it's could be a good idea

Charlotte

Lucie Tosakova They want to force the dependency on FluentCRM. 😡

Bryan William

Charlotte but the Free version of fluentcrm can already do this...

Charlotte

Bryan William Ok. I thought about it and it doesn’t change my thinking: it’s still forcing a dependency on another ecosystem plugin.

lesnocodeurs

Great

Jose F

Amazing! Thank you team for this great and useful update! Keep the great work!

Thank you to Shahjahan Jewel and the team! Such an amazing update 🎉✨💛

Shahjahan Jewel, great addition! Please add integration for FluentForms an FluentBooking blocks

Bryan William

Please add fluent cart blocks integration to the page.

AS W

Could pinned post be automatically redirected to a page called “Important” ? That way, we wouldn’t have to keep reading the same stuff over and over again just because it’s sitting on top of the Posts.

Another idea would be to have newest posts automatically copied (not redirected) to a Page “news” (for a given time, like couple of days). Would that be feasible Tawsif Ahmed Riyad  ?

I will forward your suggestion to the team, not sure if these will be feasible. Our main target is to make the plugin simple. And custom development is possible, SPA routes can be injected so that third party devs can easily integrate their ideas.

AS W

David Churchill maybe that’s something yours could do?

Jason Soper

Just playing around with the pages feature and noticed that creating a page it sets it as a tab in the discussion space i.e the tabs show Post, Members, Page#1 etc.

It would be great is there could be a way to select "page" as the actual space type, along with discussion, course and link. If i am creating a "Start Here" page, I don't want it hiding inside a discussion space as a tab, I would want my members to be able to click the space name once and land on it. Would also be neat if we could set one of the pages as the default landing page for new members.

Jose F

Jason Soper I was thinking the same thing. +1

Hoang Hxn

Itachi Sensei

Jason Soper +1 absolutely

Can the fluent community space pages allow shortcodes from other plugins

hany

Gilbert Mutingu Jaddy i tried short codes in pages, courses lessons, but unfortunately it renders badly

hany so they work only that the css is broken

Ross FCA

Gilbert Mutingu Jaddy css and javascript. You'll only get raw html.

Erik Boles

Gilbert Mutingu Jaddy to the point hany made, Shortcodes often fail in this scenario because pages/containers createdoutside of FC (like in Elementor) rely on specific scripts and stylesheets being enqueued in the page head, which FluentCommunity's template rendering often suppresses. Embedding the content (like an Elementor container) in an iframe isolates its DOM context, preventing FluentCommunity and Gutenberg CSS/JS from stripping or overriding styles and scripts. You'll want to test for different display breakpoints.

Sam Robinson

excellent! love the team behind this!

Remik Woroniecki

Could be nice, if pages will be having a drop down menu function.

Erik Boles

This is a great addition @jewel. is there a way to make the page the default view in the space? right now it defaults to posts then in the secondary nav I have Members, Media, Documents, [Page]. How do we get the page to by the default view for a space?

EDIT: Custom Menus from FCAddons does this beautifully, so we're good.

Charlotte

I'm tired, I'm grumpy, and maybe this is as plain as the nose on my face - but WHERE are the pages hiding? I've clicked everywhere I can think of and this pic is all of the guidance I can find:

Charlotte

I'm running the current versions of FluentCommunity and Fluent Community Pro, and I've triple checked that my Pro license is active.

Shahjahan Jewel

Charlotte it's under space settings

Jason Soper

Charlotte if you go into space settings you will see a new tab for pages.

Charlotte

Shahjahan Jewel Jason Soper Thank you both. 🙏🏼 I needed the pic - that is not intuitive for me.

Charlotte

Shahjahan Jewel I've taken a deep breath and offer the following with much appreciation for the team's work:

First, please consider adding the ability to create pages here: (screenshot).

Second, I - like others have already expressed - need the option (not forced) to have pages in the left sidebar. Probably other places as well as I build the community. Please add location freedom options but do not force them on me/us.

Third, FluentCommunityAddons can add pages to the menus - at least I think. Will try shortly. And if it doesn't work today it will eventually.

But - and this is the harder thing to say in a forum and have it land nicely - when you build an ecosystem and ask developers to extend functionality, please don't the bring all of their hard work into core. Over and over again. I don't need to be able to code in order to see that it wont be long before developers stop creating complimentary plugins for Fluent products.

This isn't about any one developer. Just in general. And I also understand that in today's competitive environment things change fast and roadmaps have their own pitfalls. But are there no workarounds? Perhaps could trusted developers apply for and be approved for access to a private roadmap just for them? Something. Anything. To keep from stalling a growing ecosystem. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

I meant this constructively. I'll go take more deep breaths now. I'm just very protective of the developers creating things I really, really need to make my own visions come true.

Thanks.

Jose F

Charlotte as a workaround for now, you can add a space page to the left sidebar using the link type from your screenshot. Each page has its own URL.

Agree with you about a clear roadmap for developers so they know what to invest time in, but honestly, I also want all the functionalities natively in core. Many reasons, such better compatibility, maintenance and costs.

AS W

Charlotte they will never make a roadmap; we have been behind for one for months and months and probably even longer and they always choose to ignore this request. I agree that they should stop building what other developers spend so long developing, only to cancel their hard work once they make their own version.

Claudy Scoufy

They systematically ignore our requests": I disagree with that; I find that Shahjahan Jewel and his team are actually very receptive. Admittedly, some requests aren't accepted (and they don't always explain why, it's true), but sometimes things happen very quickly and get implemented in the next update. You have to realize they can't incorporate every single one of our dreams and wishes—and that’s fair enough.

As for the roadmap, I agree that add-on developers should have access to it; the idea of a dedicated roadmap is a good approach.

AS W

Claudy Scoufy I didn’t say that they were systematically ignoring our requests. (Plural). You wrongly quoted me here. I wrote that they ignore our request (singular) to make a roadmap, even though that’s something we have collectively been asking for a very long time.

Peter Mienes

Love it ❤️ but where/how can I create templates?

Peter Mienes think this is slightly misleading wording. There are four different templates you can choose for the page.
