When I try to react to a message it says I need to join the community but when I click the blue button I only see the wordpress login , nowhere to sign up. I think I am doing something wrong here
You have to go to the WP Dashboard then Settings/General and enable "anyone can sign up"

But I would really want to have a customize login page and not wp-login
Robin In a meantime... did you try (as the Admin) to invite a user so there is a "frontend page" (no customization yet available unless you create your own login page) when the user will get the invitation?
To invite a user go to: /portal/space/Your--SPACE--Name/members > select your Space > select Members > Add Member > View Invitations - check the user email and click the link to register

Robin, also you can check YT for Fluent Forms and Fluent SMTP - its all you need to customize the login page and redirect users to /portal once they are logged in. Enjoy!

Robin, there are some ongoing tweeks so we can expect some more features but for now it is a Beta and the team is trying to complete everything out so the plugin can be available by broader audience.
Feel free to share your feedback or feature requests and dont give up.
Just remember that Fluent Products can do a magic and it is awesome ecosystem. So for a single product you might find some challanges but when you combine them it will give you a powerful platform and endless possibilities.
We all learn here - that is why it is called community and more productive feedback = better product. Probably complains are also welcomed here🤩
If you dont know anything just ask but during the Beta phase the support from fTeam might be limited as they are hardly working on the product but they listen carefully what is going on here.
