I will be doing a line by line review of the code and I sincerely hope that you didn’t copy and paste any of it because I intentionally use specific ways I code just for situations like this.

Jeff Brigman not sure how much code matched but I was in the dev sprint a few weeks back. I designed how the data will be stored for each profile, how we can make it queriable in the future ( we used database level JSON field type). For the management UI, we just followed our existing UX and it’s the same as FluentBooking UI/UX.

Again, I did not check your codebase.

Shahjahan Jewel obviously there are key differences because I can't hook into your code the same way you guys can. However, nearly all the settings are identical, especially the field visibility by role that I had publicly announced and your dev had access too.

No, I don't use the xprofile, but all the fields are stored in the database so they can be queried site wide (both FCom and wordpress) for future usage as well.

I don't care that you have built in custom profile fields, I do care that one of your devs probably took my work and presented them as his own for this feature.

Jeff Brigman you might be right, but if i was you, i would not build something that is obvious to be in the core at some point.

Jeff Brigman hey Jeff - I haven't looked at either yours or the 2.3.0 implementation yet, so can't speak on copying. But on the actual feature, I built my own (very rudimentary) version over 6 months ago and parked it waiting for something official. I did that because it was such an obvious core feature and would need to be part of what I consider the fcom "platform" rather than an add-on. Any solution I could provide would be obsolete immediately with the release of it in core. Also I had the same issues with your in that there was no official hooks and required clunky DOM manipulation. I didn't expect to wait another 6 months, but here we are.

Fcom has a pretty strict design philosophy I always try to match to keep things consistent. The concept of custom fields is pretty strict in terms of implementation - it's a additional xprofile fields exposed on the front end with an interface. There's not many "creative" ways to do that. Again, not to diminish your work or claim you're wrong that you were copied - you may very well be right. But if 12 people designed custom fields for fluent community in a vacuum, it's very likely they'd all come up with pretty much the same thing.

The concept of custom fields never excited me, that's a core basic feature I expected from day 1. What you can do with the fields though, well that's exciting. So I'd not be disheartened, for every plugin I release there's 3 or 4 lying on the floor behind it - they're not wasted, they all taught me something new that I can bring to the next plugin. I'm sure you learned a ton from building custom fields that will make your next, and future plugins, a breeze to build. Fcom really is a blank slate and I'm sure you can provide tons of value to it.

Also, for reference, Tawsif Ahmed is a member of my community too - I'd expect developers to be interested how their products are being built on by 3rd parties - and haven't seen any evidence to suggest he's there for any other reasons.

Marian Palsgraaf she was and obviously I appreciate it but that's the reason I don't comment myself about my add-ons as people here are typically expecting core features from the plugin they've already bought and want to know when they're coming, not be linked to 3rd party solutions. (I do have a free events plugin though...).

Bob correct. Bad day for an add-on dev flying blind to build things no longer needed. My flagship product - Partner was tightly integrated with my dm's for fc, so that will need to be retooled to work with the new feature, instead of the dependency on my dm's add-on. I'm really happy for the addition of this feature for what a benefit this will be to community founders, but the timing is super unfortunate for me. I valued this feature at $29 single site LTD, which means that the value of FluentCommunity just increased tremendously, as far as I'm concerned.

Jeff Sorry to hear you got blindsided by it. More often than not there are 3rd party plugins that improve upon what already exists in the native app, so I wasn't sure if your plugin could still operate and have different features, but it sounds like it's just going to be replaced.

Bob I appreciate the sympathy. Direct messages through fcrm was the feature. I know they weren't copying me. When I created it, it was because the feature was obvious, but missing.

Jeff Just another reason for them to be more transparent with their roadmap. Even if they don't want to divulge certain things, they can share an internal roadmap with developers and make them sign an NDA to not share what's coming.

Anne-Sophie W I appreciate the many kind sentiments. They couldn't have copied my work, but they may have gotten wind of the idea. The feature is a no brainer, which is why I thought it should exist. Hopefully you will find value in what's left. I promise to make the announcement in a few days, Even if the website and images aren't quite ready, it's time to launch! My dm's for fcom, along with all my other add ons have been ready for months, but like I said, I have been too much of a perfectionist to have everything perfect.

Tawsif Ahmed Riyad Unfortunately it’s not working.

When I click on “Settings” under Custom Profile Fields, I get the following error:

“Config could not be loaded”

And I also see this error message:

“No route found that matches the URL and request method.”

Because of this, I’m unable to create or edit custom profile fields.

Could you please help me fix this issue?
