Introducing FluentCommunity 2.2 - Our Biggest Update 🚀
This is it. Our biggest update since launch. We've shipped tons of features and improvements in this update, so be sure to read the full post and our changelog article.
🎬 Introducing Smart Media Player
For those running courses or sharing video content: We built a new Video Player addon - FluentPlayer, which works natively inside FluentCommunity. Upload videos directly, customize the player with your brand colors, control playback options, and keep your premium content secure. No more sending members to external platforms. It will also reskin the existing Youtube/Vimeo Videos with smart UI & UX.
💬 Real-Time Messaging, Redesigned
The messaging module got a complete overhaul. It's a 100% rewrite. With real-time chat (Pusher or any compatible socket services), conversations feel instant and alive. No delays, no refreshing. Just smooth, reliable communication.
🎓 Rebuilt Lesson Editor
Course creators, this one's for you. The new Gutenberg-powered lesson editor lets you drag-and-drop sections, add quizzes with passing grades, attach documents, enable per-lesson discussions, and choose between self-paced or drip content delivery. It's everything you need to build professional courses. You can also use our new FluentPlayer for your videos.
🔒 Profile Privacy Controls
Now you can have full control over profile privacy. You can decide who sees individual profiles. Security and social connection, balanced.
📌 Comment Pinning
Finally! Admins and moderators can now pin important comments to the top of any discussion. No more critical info getting buried. Guidelines, clarifications, announcements - they stay visible exactly where they need to be.

Jonathan Gwyer The version 1 is packed with full integration with FluentCommunity and we will release on .org in the coming weeks. This will the media player plugin for WordPress and no other plugin is near!

Shahjahan Jewel Great to see a video player, but there are a lot of features missing compared to S3mediaplayer: S3 Cloudfront support (for streaming video to prevent downloading and auto rendering at various resolution), watermark protection (IP, email, etc that moves on screen to prevent recording), video index for direct access to parts of the video, subtitles and splash screen support (auto detect when they have the same name as the video) and much more (I can give you a full list of the missing features once I have had a chance to test the pro version of the player).
Good news is that I found a way to get S3mediavault video player to work in FluentCommuinity (using HTML embedd instead of shortcodes), so we can wait until FluentVideo player catches up :)

Can you now communicate on a roadmap? Because the current one does not allow us to have a vision (you mentioned its creation this winter). For my part, I can't do anything without "Custom field for user profiles" so I'm still waiting to find out if FC will one day be for me.

Looks good, can't wait to check it out. I am also interested in creating an onboarding system. My initial thought was to use course modules. Curious if something like that is in the future.
What an absolute beast!
The Card Layout View looks stunning and makes everything so much cleaner. Huge thanks for Comment Pinning and Profile Privacy - those are essential for better moderation and security. And.. the RealTime Messaging overhaul is exactly what we needed to keep the community alive (just wondering ehere the FluentSocket DC is located for GDPR compliance and what data is being shared externally). You guys are killing it!!! Huge Thanks!

Milen Grigorov Like all of our plugins, this will be a freemium model as well. But we kept the full integration with other fluent plugins (including FluentCommunity) completely free.

It says in the doc "Visual Customization: The editor supports Modern and Classic layouts, allowing for high-impact visual elements like featured images or embedded videos at the top of course pages."
Will this do a feature image at the top of the Table of Contents of a course? or just the lessons?
Since FluentCommunity launched it always made me wonder why there was no feature image option for a course above the table of contents (only a thumbnail option) ... but there was both a feature image and a thumbnail option for a space.

If I turn on the play embedded videos in Fluent Player our current embedded YouTube videos just keep spinning without loading the controls and it doesn't seem to want to apply to current embedded Vimeo videos.

Cool! If you upload videos to FluentPlayer AND have activated Bunny-Net as a media module, the videos will be uploaded to Bunny-Net.
A direct connection to Bunny-Net (storage and stream) is apparently a pro feature.
However:
The videos are simply uploaded; there is no transcoding into different resolutions.
Currently, the videos can be downloaded; they are not protected (because there is no streaming).
Sounds like it's still very early development.
The translations for the chat are missing.

I do have question though, I did not see anything yet about offload media options for the player, like bunny.net and others providers, will this still be able to connect? and a feature for the video player, can you add in control like password/email submitted protected to access video?

Is anyone else having the problem where the live messages appear but then disappear once you refresh the page?
Shahjahan Jewel I must be doing something wrong! The messages are still showing up in the database, but not in the chat when they've already been seen. They're fine in real time and they're fine in the database, but just disappear on a page refresh

Excellent update! 🎉 Perhaps, in card view, there's a better way to display posts without images, links, or GIFs? They're currently shown in a lot of gray boxes, which looks odd. I know the goal is to keep them the same height as posts with multimedia, but perhaps there's a better alternative (maybe something like masonry option).

Greetings- The new player feature is not working well with existing Youtube videos. They simply have a spinning wheel in the middle of any youtube videos posted. I read that the new UI re-cinfigures the existing Youtube videos but its clear it actually breaks them as it was working before the update.

How about a native app solution (PWA at least) and push notifications?
While the current features are nice to have, they don’t address the mobile audience. I think mobile accessibility should be the top priority at the moment.
