Custom Fields - What do you need?
I'm currently developing a custom fields add-on and am looking for some input on exactly what it is you need, what sort of data you want to hold, and how you want to display it. I currently have custom fields working for profiles, spaces, and courses.
Profiles
Just now you can add any custom field from your wordpress site to your users profile page. You can also create custom fields specifically for use on the profiles. You can select which fields should also show on the profile edit page and can be updated by the user.
Courses and Spaces
As with profiles, you can add any custom meta field to your spaces and courses. Think things like skill level, price etc. The question for this is what kind of fields would you add to your spaces and courses and where would you want to display them? You could potentially show price and skill level on the course discovery page, or on the course overview page itself. I'll be adding a course banner field that will show above the lessons on the course overview page for example.
Any ideas welcome.
The site I am running is for a national car club. As new users signup via a Fluent Form, they can add their city & state plus details about their car (model, trim level, color). They can also pick a Space they want to join based on their region.
Ideally, I'd like to display all of that info in their profile but also give the user the option to mark any of that private (at least their city & state).
Right now, the site is completely free, but I'm considering enabling someway for people to donate/contribute to the site on a monthly basis (maybe something like $2, $5, $10 per month). It would be cool to have a way to acknowledge those making monthly donations on their profile. I haven't really thought too much about this so I'm not sure if I would want a custome profile field or have some labels that are automatically applied.
And another thing... Once we have the custom profiles setup, it would be awesome to have a way to filter by profile field or search. For example, if I wanted to find everyone that had a GT or everyone that lived in Washington.
Patrick Anderson that's the trickiest part so far but I'll see what I can do. I also would like to be able to search members by the custom fields.
Patrick Anderson labels or badges etc would be possible. That sounds like something my upcoming Members plugin would be better to handle though.
When you say " I'll be adding a course banner field that will show above the lessons on the course overview page for example. " is this the same look and feel feature banner one sees in a space? if so that would be great!
Morgan McArthur yep that's right. All of my plugins aim to integrate directly with fluent community's look and feel and to maintain dark mode functionality etc. So yeah you'll put an image URL in and it will pull in as the header for the course.

2 questions for you...
- Is there a reason why the image has be be from a image URL and cant be uploaded like fluent community has for their thumbnail image?
- When do you plan on having this course image feature ready by?
Maybe add possibility to add courses a user is enrolled in on their profile maybe this could be accessible to only admin, logged in members etc......
At the moment I have another profile page because Im unable to edit the Fluent community one so this sounds amazing... My Fluent Community is private but Ive made another profile for paid Subscriptions which is connected to a public directory. Its currently in disarray as Im waiting on the next Fluent Community Update which I was hoping will sort it out... It would be cool to somehow just have the one profile and have everything from that.
For me it would be great to be able to display the user company name and logo and perhaps their branding colour, along with service they provide.
would be cool to have some sort of conditional logic.
eg from a dropdown choose Fruit. Then below would be checkboxes below: apple | banana | orange etc.
Also maybe to have the option to extend profile based on user role :)

Ross FCA yes where the subscriber gets the normal and others roles can get extra ones. Currently there is an bug with fluent forms and the jet engine integration where conditional logic breaks the form. Been waiting almost 3 months for the update from support. It would be cool if you could have conditional logic with the profile as a work around ;)
When do you think you will have a stable version for release?
